Is it for yourself, your kids, money, or the glory of it all?

Good question! But...you didn't answer it...why do YOU blog?

Well...Macaroni and Peas is a blog to support my business. I write about food and family, saving time and money, and dealing with things like allergies, diabetes, overweight kids, and picky eaters.

My other blog, Geeked Off!, is more personal. I write about all things geek, whether that's gaming, music, tv, movies, or comics. This blog has been sadly neglected of late. I like having a place where I can write about my weirdness.

Originally, blogging was a way for me to get thoughts out of my head. Blogging morphed into a way to practice writing and then into a way to support my business. I wish I had time to do more blogging, honestly.

The reason I blog is because I love to write, and it's something that I can do around my kids. The reason I started blogging Sex Diaries of a Mom was because I felt like I had no one to talk comfortably to about sex - and I felt like I was certain other Moms were the same.

I wanted to create a blog where Moms could openly talk about sex, without feeling uncomfortable, or worried about any graphic stuff.

Thanks for asking!

I blog just because. I have a lot of things that float around in my head and things I wonder about or question, etc. It's a good release for me, just like my shop is. It's like keeping a diary almost but yet it's more fun because I can hear what others have to say too.

I blog for myself, (I love writing) which with my blog aids people in getting to know me so that I can increase my life coaching business so that I can stay at home with my munchkin. My blog is My Life Coach Tara
Oh and if there's glory in blogging it's just the cherry on top!

After 6 years, the reasons have changed.

First it was for sanity! Five years ago, we had a baby girl with Down syndrome, post-partum hit too, and between the stress of both, Mom Blog helped me survive.

Then it was to share - I loved learning how awesome it was to be a mom, and then a mom again, and later a special needs mom again. Tough, yes, but wouldn't trade it for the world. I just had to blog when my girls achieved things!

Finally to reach out to others. I was horrified to learn that in some places in the US, you cannot get early intervention or other therapeutic resources for children with certain conditions. That broke my heart, and I am trying to work proactively to come up with a way to help parents in that situation.

I also keep a writer's blog to mark my accomplishments as I also pursue my dream of becoming a full time writer and published author.

I started blogging when my doctor diagnosed me with Hodgkin's Lymphoma two weeks after discovering I was pregnant. I had posted a few myspace blogs to update family here and there when we weren't sure. The first day of treatment they have a counselor talk to you for several hours. Depression is something they were worried about. They suggested I keep a diary of what I was feeling and what I was going through so it turned into a whole seperate blog. I have been keeping it since. I finished chemo, delivered a healthy baby girl, had radiation and was declared in remission in February. My blog has helped me so much in expressing myself, getting my thoughts and feelings out WHEN I am feeling them. I feel very free and just say what I think. I have four kids, I have been married since I was 19. I just celebrated 13 years of marriage. I have a lot in my head and I just write it all down. I have follow ups to make sure the cancer doesn't come back every 3 months and it just really helps to be able to write it down instead of letting that anxiety build up!

After I gave birth to my daughter I was so totally consumed with my love for her that I threw myself into the job of being her mommy 100%. After a while though, I started feel like I was losing myself as an individual. I started to feel like I wasn't Catherine anymore, that I was just Monkey's Mommy, or Stinky's wife. Although I wouldn't trade being a wife and mother for the world I really started to miss being Catherine too. Evolving Mommy gives me the opportunity to take time for myself everyday without feeling guilty (sometimes at least). It is also is a way for me to connect with other people who may or may not be going through some of the same things.

I blog, to quote the blog title of one of your members, because it is truly "cheaper than therapy". Seriously. I love having a place to brag, or to vent, or just to let off some steam by publishing a whole lot of nothing. It's been a great way to meet more moms like me, and more women in general like me. Blogging is a HUGE part of my life.
